[fanfic] [star trek] Brave Old World

If you expected a change, a difference you realize you were looking in empty spaces. When you walked about the Vulcan Science Academy to form a new future at the Federation, you thought you had chosen and this is what being empowered would feel. The sensation of being trapped, of constantly being tugged between one fear and another would shatter under his feet. Logically.

There was nothing logical at place. Everything moved the same. Everyone was in theory and in practice... the same. Federation could have been called a dead weight, their power drifting aimlessly among the stars, a mission that seems to never succeed. It  was enough to make him feel lost but feeling lost was not logical and neither was simply "giving up"

Perhaps, in his vindictiveness, the unbeatable Kobayashi Maru was a reflection of himself.

No man was meant to beat that test. Just as no man could change what had become of Starfleet. A depressing thought, but one that stood on a solid foundation of experience and thought.

He would never stop hating Jim Kirk for rewriting that test and actually winning (in a manner of speaking, but even he could feel the force of Jim Kirk's logic behind the intent and that bothered him far worse. He understood) but he will never leave Jim Kirk either, for all the love and hatred and agony it will grant him for many years to come, years he has pictured and years he has seen on his Elder's face, like a marker.

Jim Kirk didn't free him. Jim Kirk let him loose and while he was still in fear and in awe of the deed, Jim Kirk laughed. It was no wonder the universe trembled when they were together, like the snap of a bowstring.

They were invincible.
